Climate Justice League July 7, 2010

The Climate Justice League is a campaign driven student group at the University of Oregon on a mission to empower students to organize their communities and be leaders in the climate justice movement. By using targeted campaigns, they work together toward a safe, just and sustainable future for all. This group is completely student-run and gives students a chance to make a difference in their community and world by working towards solutions to climate change in a well organized manner that leads to success and climate equity.
Some of their campaigns include Take Back the Tap, Responsible Endowment, a Student Sustainability Center, and Compost. Each campaign has its own coordinator(s), facilitators, goal(s), and timeline with the benefits of strong group support. The leadership is tiered and consists of an overall steering committee and specific campaign steering committees. The overall steering committee, which consists of group directors, campaign coordinators, and many other important positions, allows each coordinator to report back to the larger group and give updates concerning their position and the group as a whole. Specific campaign steering committees organize and plan the campaign and ensure that all tasks are sufficiently completed. This structure allows the groups to operate smoothly and efficiently and also provides numerous leadership roles for the members.
